The United Nation As Good Samaritan: Immunity Or Responsibility In Mass Torts Claims
In 2010, after one of the world’s deadliest earthquakes hit one of the world’s most vulnerable countries, Haiti suffered again, through a cholera epidemic that killed thousands. Many blame the cholera outbreak on the United Nations, which sent the peacekeepers that were the source of cholera. Professor Boon will discuss the prospects for holding the UN accountable.

Dr Kristen Boon is a Professor of Law and Director of International Programs at Seton Hall University School of Law in New Jersey. She specializes in public international law and international organizations. She was recently interviewed on CBC’s The Current about the cholera-related claims being made in the US courts.
